‘Transgender’ Male Inmate Sentenced for Rape of Female Inmate

On February 8, 2021, 33-year-old Ramel Blount, also known as Diamond Blount, reportedly approached a female inmate from behind that had just finished showering in the jail’s Rose M. Singer facility, pushed her down by the neck, and raped her, according to Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark.

A rape kit was administered on the victim after she reported it, and DNA results matched Blount’s DNA in the New York State Registry.
On April 7, 2022, Blount plead guilty to Attempted Rape in the first degree.

Blount was sentenced on Monday to seven years in prison and eight years of post-release supervision, and will be required to register as a sex offender.
Clark said, “Sexual violence against anyone is unacceptable. The defendant has been sentenced to seven years in prison for the terrible attack.”
Earlier this year, Senator Tom Cotton introduced a bill that would protect female prisoners from biological male prisoners being housed in the same facility.
The Preventing Violence Against Female Inmates act would stop biological males who claim to be trans gender from petitioning for a transfer into women’s prisons.
“President Biden’s plan to house male and female prisoners together will put women in danger,” Cotton said at the time.
“Documented cases prove that placing men—including ones who ‘identify’ as female—into women’s prisons puts female inmates at increased risk of sexual assault. My bill will stop the president’s ill-conceived plan and keep men and women separated in federal prison.”
