Guess Which Common Phrase is No Longer Politically Correct
By the time the Idiot Left is done monkeying around with the English language, we’ll be walking around grunting like Tim Allen because our entire vocabulary will have been deemed problematic in some form or another. It is clear that there is no perfect amount of political correctness that will finally satisfy feminists, racial activists, and all the rest of the left-wing fascists who want to control everything we say, write, and think. Every language-censoring victory is just a stepping stone to the next fight, and, for some reason, Americans are gleefully willing to keep conceding word after phrase after concept to this greedy beast. Half the time, we’re convinced that no one at all actually finds these words offensive – they’re just messing with us to prove how easy it is to get us to bow before the PC altar.
To wit…
There was apparently a horrific announcement being made for the last, oh, fifty years or so on the New York City subway system. This announcement went unnoticed in simpler times because riders had more pressing concerns like…Hmm, is that guy holding a crack pipe? But now that NYC has been cleaned up a bit, activists have the newfound freedom to focus on the cultural problems that have plagued riders for years – without anyone actually noticing. Horrors like “manspreading!” Horrors like…the phrase “ladies and gentlemen.”
Yeah, it’s that kind of story.
According to the New York Post, transit workers will no longer make announcements using that dreaded phrase because there has been a top-down edict banning any gender-specific language on the subway system. A bulletin just went out to all workers requiring them to stick to words like “passengers” and “riders” to avoid offending people who fit into one of the nine billion gender categories that have been invented in the last couple of years.
“They are trying to be politically correct,” a station worker told the newspaper. “They are acknowledging that they have some transgender riders. They don’t want to offend anyone.”
But hold on. Don’t transgender people WANT to be referred to as either a “lady” or a “gentleman,” depending on which way their transition went? Isn’t that the whole point? Or are now to understand that they want to carve out their own special little category where they’re this weird, “in between” type of species? Gentleladies? Ladymen? No, we’re pretty sure that one is some kind of hate speech.
The left has been crazy for a long time, but we have to admit: If you’d asked us a few years ago if we could foresee the day when the phrase “ladies and gentlemen” would be considered offensive, we would have thought you were off your rocker. It just goes to show you that no matter how batshit loony you think liberals are today, what they’ll come up with in the future is even nuttier still.
