Hillary Now Blaming “Voter Suppression” for Her 2016 Defeat
We thought for sure that by now Hillary Clinton could have found a better hobby than thinking up new excuses for why she lost the 2016 election, but apparently we were wrong. There’s only so much walking in the woods you can do while keeping your mind meditatively focused on the sights and sounds of Chappaqua nature, we suppose. Eventually an embittered mind is going to turn back to its most humiliating defeats, as much as one might try to overcome it with alternate nostril breathing, etc.
So it is with Hillary, who told an audience at George Washington University this week that she’s been warning 2020 Democratic candidates about the pitfalls they may face when trying to dethrone Donald Trump. No, she’s not telling them to spend more time in the Midwest shoring up those old Democratic strongholds. No, she’s not warning them to avoid lumping Trump’s supporters into a “basket of deplorables.” None of that stuff; it would be too much like admitting personal faults, and that’s something Hillary Rodham Clinton simply doesn’t do.
No, she’s telling them to watch out for those things they have absolutely no control over.
“You can run the best campaign. You can have the best plans. You can get the nomination. You can win the popular vote. And you can lose the Electoral College and therefore the election for these 4 reasons. Number One: Voter suppression,” Clinton lamented.
The Hill reports: Clinton specifically blames Republican voter suppression for Stacey Abrams losing the election for Georgia governor, but, for the first time, extrapolated the problem to the 2016 presidential election, claiming that around 200,000 voters in Wisconsin were turned away from the polls because of that state’s voter ID requirement (Clinton, of course, lost Wisconsin in a brutal swing state defeat, despite what she claims were internal polls showing her far ahead of Trump).
So yeah, here we go again. Another Democrat who believes – without any evidence – that Stacey Abrams was the rightful winner of the Georgia governor’s race. If we had a media that was more concerned with the truth than with protecting Democrats, this lie would be exposed for what it is: A baseless, racially-divisive, democracy-destroying conspiracy theory. We might also be treated to mainstream pundits who reject the idea that it is somehow burdensome for a black voter to get their hands on a government-issued ID card.
Fact is, if you don’t possess the wherewithal to get identification, we really don’t need you casting a vote in the first place. This is some pretty minimal, basic stuff here, and we’re not convinced that America is worse off because non-ID-having losers are barred from the precincts. Sell that crap to GWU if you can, and sell it to the 2020 Democrats if you must, but don’t try selling it to us.
