If San Francisco Can’t Put Killer in Prison, Trump’s DOJ Will
A jury in San Francisco decided that Jose Ines Garcia Zarate did not deserve any particular punishment for shooting and killing Kate Steinle, but the Trump administration has decided otherwise. The Department of Justice filed a fresh set of federal charges against Garcia Zarate this week in the wake of national outrage over the killer’s acquittal.
“A federal grand jury indicted Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate today for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and for being an illegally present alien in possession of a firearm and ammunition,” the DOJ said in a statement.
Conviction on either count could bring with it a prison sentence of up to ten years.
In one of the most baffling and disturbing jury outcomes in years, Garcia Zarate was acquitted last week on multiple counts of homicide. The jury could not bring themselves to convict the admitted killer of first degree murder, second degree murder, or even involuntary manslaughter, which he was certainly guilty of at the very least. They couldn’t even manage to convict him on the lightest possible charge, assault with a deadly weapon. The best they could do was slap him with a felony firearm possession charge. Because, god knows, you may be able to kill a white woman with impunity if you’re an illegal immigrant, but don’t let us catch you carrying a gun around in San Francisco. Absolutely boils our blood, even with almost a week to think about it.
Of course, the legal mess that is this case didn’t start with the botched verdict. It started when San Francisco authorities released the arrested Garcia Zarate instead of turning him over to federal immigration authorities in 2015. It was only because of the city’s outlandish sanctuary policies that this oft-deported scum was available to murder Steinle in the first place. If it were up to us, the Department of Justice would file some charges against San Francisco Democrats right alongside the ones they’re filing against this illegal immigrant. They are nearly as responsible as he is for Steinle’s death.
Speaking of federal immigration authorities, ICE Acting Director Tom Homan announced this week that Zarate would be deported as soon as the federal case against him was completed.
“San Francisco’s policy of refusing to honor ICE detainers is a blatant threat to public safety and undermines the rule of law,” said Homan. “This tragedy could have been prevented if San Francisco had turned the alien over to ICE as we requested, instead of releasing him back onto the streets.”
Lock him up, deport him, and make damn sure he never darkens the doorstep of this country again. And then let’s get to work implementing policies that will keep this from happening in the United States…even in its West Coast Marxist affiliates.
