NYC Offers Therapy to Workers Upset Over Trump
In what should be a clear message to New York City taxpayers about how their paychecks are being wasted, Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration is offering free counseling for municipal workers upset over the election of Donald Trump. In a series of emails sent from the mayor’s office, the administration has signaled to employees the availability of mental health resources for those “feeling distressed or vulnerable following the election results.”
“We have seen the concerns expressed on social media,” one email said, “and we are monitoring them closely.”
We have seen your tearful YouTube videos, employees of New York City! We have read your cryptic concerns on Facebook. Fear not, citizens of Gotham, for your liberal mayor will not let your hearts bleed alone.
According to The New York Post, several executive departments are offering therapeutic services:
The half-dozen agencies involved include the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Education, as well as Deputy Mayor for Strategic Policies Richard Buery, who is overseeing the city’s mental health initiative known as Thrive NYC.
The Post spoke to City Hall press secretary Eric Phillips, who said it was a chance for the city to show some yuletide spirit.
“The post-election period has been anxiety-producing for many people, understandably,” he said. “When you throw the holidays into that, it can be a very difficult time for those coping with mental health challenges.”
Well, when you put it that way, it makes more sense. In fact, it makes perfect sense. The city of New York is now recognizing Trump Derangement Syndrome! Of course! What else can they do? They are living right at the epicenter of crazed-liberal America. They are surrounded by mental illness. If they don’t offer this kind of counseling, the whole city will probably shut down by Christmas day.
The best comment on all of this is from Laura Ingraham, who said de Blasio was just trying to distract the citizens from rising crime rates.
“How are we the country that took the beaches of Normandy if we need a therapy dog every time things don’t go our way?” she asked.
Well, what do you think Trump meant when he talked about making this country great again?
But damn, it might be a steeper job than we thought.
