Shocking VETO Issued – Your Future Is At Stake!
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Monday, President Joe Biden issued his first veto while in office by rejecting a bipartisan measure that would invalidate a new administration rule for retirement plans.
In a video posted on Twitter, Biden explained that he signed the video because the plan that had passed through Congress had failed to take into consideration how investments might be affected by the climate and overpaying executives, which could put the retirement savings of many Americans at risk.
The resolution blocking the Labor Department rule that would allow some retirement plans to consider environmental, social, and corporate governance factors during investment selection instead of just looking at rates of return passed through the Senate in a 50-46 vote on March 1. During the Senate vote, two Democratic Senators, Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Jon Tester of Montana, voted with Republicans to pass the measure.
The measure had passed through the House a day earlier, on Feb. 28, in a 216-204 vote, with Rep. Jared Golden of Maine joining the Republicans in voting for the measure. A two-thirds majority would have been necessary in each chamber for the veto to be overridden.
The measure had been introduced in February by Rep. Andy Barr, R-Ky. The Labor Department’s new investment rule was introduced two months later. Following the successful Senate vote, Barr took to Twitter to call for Biden to “abandon the radical climate activists” and focus instead on “middle-savers.”
