White House Invaded By Unexpected Intruder
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Tuesday, a toddler briefly entered the White House grounds by squeezing through the mental fencing on the north side of the presidential mansion.
Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Gugliemli in a statement released to Fox News Digital that “The Secret Service Uniformed Division today encountered a curious young visitor along the White House north fence line who briefly entered White House grounds.” As he noted the White House’s security systems were triggered by the toddler who entered the White House grounds.
The toddler was “quickly reunited” with his parents.
The Associated Press reported that access to the 18-acre Washington, D.C., complex was restricted while the officers worked on reuniting the toddler with his parents on Pennsylvania Avenue. Following reunification, the parents were briefly questioned before being allowed to continue with their day.
This is not the first time that a small child has made their way through the fence. In April 2015, and August 2014 there were also reports of tiny intruders. On occasion, some older children have also become stuck there.
Following these incidents, the Secret Service and National Park Service have been working to increase the height of the fence to around 13 feet. While taller the new fence pickets are further apart with a total of 5½ inches between posts.
The Park Service says online that the two agencies have been collaborating since 2014 “to develop an appropriate barrier that will keep the White House and grounds” accessible to the public while securing the occupants of the White House.
