One of the Democrats’ political narratives is that white Republicans are terrified of losing white privilege to the growing number of people-of-color, as the left defines everyone who is not a white person of European ancestry.
In past commentaries, I have written about the nuttiness of lumping Blacks, Asians, Latinos (including white Latinos), Native Americans, Islanders, Middle Easterners and others into a single demographic. It is part of a larger narrative that essentially claims that white Americans (excluding white Democrat Americans, of course) are living in mortal fear of losing power to the people-of-color.
As with so many progressive narratives, it is a big lie advanced for the political advantage of the Democratic Party. It is nothing more than a phony campaign issue.
There is a lot of evidence debunking that canard. But one fact seems to suggest an alternative narrative. It is possible that all those trendy progressives are the ones really worried about the expansion of the minority population.
I was struck by this when a left-winger was arguing in favor of abortion. He posed the rhetorical question, “Do you realize how many blacks there would be without abortion?” Whoa! Racism from a left-wing Democrat?
Not only is that a dyed-in-the bona fide-wool progressive expressing concern over the growth of the black politician, he raises an interesting counterpoint – exploding the Democrats narrative of diversity phobia among white Republicans.
Since white Republicans are blamed for the major opposition to abortion – and the vast majority of abortions are performed on black women – it suggests that those on the right are not concerned about any growth in the black population. If abortion-on-demand was outlawed except in a few cases, there would be significant growth in the black population.
It makes no sense for those who are supposed to fear a rising black population should be working so hard to increase the numbers.
The idea that abortion is a racist concept is not new. It was initially advanced by the most racist elements of the Democratic Party. Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger, was an avowed racist who believed in white supremacy. Her mission was to eliminate “inferior stock” from the human race. She was in line with Adolph Hitler, who praised Sanger’s work.
Abortion clinics were initially established in black ghettoes for the sole purpose of population control. They still abort mostly the unborn children of blacks and Hispanics. Martin Luther King’s niece Alveda King often states – in her anti-abortion messaging — that the most dangerous place for a black baby is in the womb of his or her mother.
The comment of that one racist liberal Democrat is not atypical, but an example of ongoing institutional racism by Democrat leaders. A Chicago Democrat precinct captain once explained to me how the political machine maintains political support from both whites and blacks. (He used the n-word as a constant. I will not). He explained that the political machine initially provided public housing to prevent n—–s from expanding into white neighborhoods. Blacks are threatened with the loss of welfare if they move – or told they would be in danger in those white neighborhoods. The folk in city hall make sure the banks do not provide mortgages for n—–s wanting to move outside the ghetto. (Yes, redlining still exits – just a lot more subtle.)
The Democrat precinct captain went on to explain that in his white neighborhood he tells voters that it is the folks in city hall who keep the n—–s out of their white neighborhoods because they would bring drugs and violence. (A strategy that evolved from the old Democrat controlled southland. The old “your daughters will be raped” fearmongering.)
As the black population of Chicago got to the point where they could elect mayors, the Chicago Machine did two things. They changed the election laws to make it harder for a black to be elected to citywide office – which worked for a generation. They also undertook an ethnic cleansing policy by tearing down the public housing high-rises without providing alternative affordable housing – driving tens of thousands of black voters out of the city and into the predominantly black suburbs. It is no small irony that the building and the tearing down of public housing was motivated by plans to reduce black power.
Lies can take hold, but they do not endure well over time. The Republican Party is attracting an increasing number of voters in recent years because of the truth about the Democratic Party’s – and the left’s – racial hypocrisy. That trend will not stop.
So, there ‘tis.
