“Thousands of Criminals” RELEASED? – Newsom Under Fire!
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco has criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom for leaving the state’s prison system in “complete disarray” and letting convicted criminals get released early. During an interview with Fox News Bianco claimed that Newsom’s agenda is focused on closing the prisons and that he had released “thousands of criminals.” He further added that there was nothing stopping him from following through with his agenda.
In 2019 when Newsom first took office, there had been 122,000 inmates in California’s prisons. The following year the Democrat stated that during his tenure he wanted to shut down a state prison. Throughout his time in office, he has managed to close one prison and there are three more prisons that are scheduled to be shut down within the next two years. The state’s prison population has also been reduced by 20 percent, to 95,610 inmates. The reduction in the number has been driven by sentencing reforms and early releases during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bianco noted that his department had recently been informed that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is going to be releasing a number of convicted murderers into Riverside County. Specifically, three convicted murderers who were meant to serve for life are now being released by Newsom.
Bianco added that the closure of prisons was the “wrong thing to do” for the law-abiding public which is going to be victimized more because of this move.
