(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – A new general social survey run by NORC at the University of Chicago found that confidence in the Supreme Court is at its lowest level in five decades.

According to the survey, only 17 percent of respondents claim to have a great deal of confidence in the Supreme Court. This marks a 9-percentage point difference from the previous year, when confidence in the high court was 26 percent. The number of respondents who stated they had hardly any confidence in the Supreme Court also increased to 35 percent in 2022. In contrast, it had been at 21 percent in 2021.

The number of respondents who had only some” confidence in the court also decreased from 43 percent to 53 percent in 2021. The rates of confidence also varied greatly based on each respondent’s political affiliations. Out of the Republicans surveyed, 26 percent expressed a great deal of confidence in the Supreme Court, while 9 percent of Democrats expressed the same. The difference between respondents from the two political parties vastly increased in the last year, as in 2021 it had only been a 3-point difference, with 25 percent of Democrats and 28 percent of Republicans having confidence in the high court.

This latest survey comes after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision last June. Roe protected abortion rights across the nation, and following its overturning, many states implemented abortion bans.

Recently, many have also questioned the ethics of those sitting in the high court as well as the rules that they have to follow, following the ProPublica report on Justice Clarence Thomas accepting luxury vacations from GOP megadonor Harlan Crow, which remained undisclosed in his financial forms.
