White House SLAMS GOP For This Reason!

(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Thursday, the White House slammed those House Republicans who have been calling for the abolishment or to cut funding for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) in an effort to undercut the fight against drug cartels and crime.

Andrew Bates, a deputy White House press secretary, stated that “MAGA Republican extremism in Congress is a growing threat to the fight against violent crime and fentanyl trafficking.” As he noted, they were attempting to “defund and abolish the ATF,” which is the law enforcement agency that is responsible for stopping firearms from falling into the “hands of gun traffickers.” Bates also pointed out that they had been “obstructing President Biden’s assault weapons ban,” despite the fact that assault weapons legally purchased within the country are usually used to arm drug cartels.

Instead, though, the Republicans are focusing on “tax giveaways for the rich over law enforcement officers and the gun industry’s profits over Americans’ lives.”

In Vice President Biden’s fiscal year 2024 budget proposal, the president called for an increase in the funding for the ATF. That is the Justice Department agency responsible for stopping the trafficking of weapons as well as combating violent criminal groups. Conservatives have often tried to hit back against the ATF, claiming that the agency is a threat to the Second Amendment.

In their latest attempt, they are trying to reduce government funding for the agency while pointing out that this could help with the federal spending cuts that they have been trying to propose.
