Blue Baltimore Faces Another Grim Murder Milestone!
Baltimore, one of the cities along with Oakland and New York that is at the epicenter of the “blue crimewave,” now faces another grim murder milestone.
As of this writing, the beleaguered city finds itself just one murder shy of 250 homicides, the latest killing coming in East Baltimore near William Court. The city has seen five people shot since last week, including this latest homicide.
It’s been a violent year for the city, with 249 people killed in the city as of this writing and 530 people shot but who survived.
Both of those numbers are higher than by the same period last year.
Local fox affiliate FOX45 spoke to residents recently about the violent crime that’s been erupting across the city. Most point to the city’s soft-on-crime Democratic leaders as the root of the problem.
“I think leadership could be better. I’m expecting them to be tougher on crime. Stop letting people get away with a small crime cause they turn into bigger crimes sometimes,” said city resident Bruce Bryant.
“For city leadership, I’m not sure because I don’t understand what they can do,” said Amanda Diggs. “It’s us as a people, we have to stop hurting each other. We have to stop attacking each other, kids growing up the parents have to get more involved. That’s nothing about city leaders.”
Another resident added, “I think Baltimore is a beautiful city with a lot of wonderful people that have a lot of talent, but unfortunately, I feel like a lot of folks are walking around with pain. I think it’s a combination of a lot of years’ lack of resources and the lack of help whether it’s mental, physically, emotionally spiritually, and unfortunately, I think it culminates in the worst way.”
That man didn’t give his name, but he did speak out about the violence decimating the city.
