Michigan Man Killed After Shooting Wife, Daughter, and the Family Dog!
Democrat-run states like Gretchen Whitmer’s Michigan, continue to experience serious rises in violent crime, and not just in urban areas like Detroit.
Recently a Walled Lake man was shot dead by police after he fatally shot and killed his wife, then turned the gun on the family dog and his young daughter. The dog was killed, and the daughter was seriously wounded.
According to law enforcement officials, the shooting took place at their Walled Lake home.
Police say that the man came out of his home with a shotgun and fired at police and an Oakland County sheriff when they approached the scene. According to police, they fired back, striking and killing the man.
Officials state that no officers were hurt. Police say that the suspect had an indication of having struggled with mental health issues.
The daughter injured in the shooting was transported to a local hospital.
Officers from Novi, Wixom, and Walled Lake all responded to the scene after there was a call made about a man with a gun.
A 25-year-old woman called 911 at about 4:11 a.m. and “stated that she had just been shot by her father” on Glenwood Drive in Walled Lake, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
When deputies and Walled Lake police arrived at the home, the man, identified as Igor Lanis, 53, came out the front door with a Remington 870 pump action shotgun and started shooting at officers, the sheriff’s office said.
Lanis’ gunfire struck “a car an officer was behind and the residence behind him,” although no one “was injured from those shots,” the sheriff’s office said Monday.
A Walled Lake police officer and an Oakland County sheriff’s deputy returned fire, killing Lanis, officials said.
The 911 caller was “at the front door … attempting to crawl from the home” before officers “dragged her to safety,” authorities said.
She was taken to a hospital and rushed into emergency surgery, the sheriff’s office said, adding that the woman had been upgraded from critical condition to stable.
Officials found the man’s wife and the family dog dead inside the home.
The wife, Tina Lanis, 56, had been “shot multiple times in the back, and it appears that she was also attempting to flee out of the front door,” the sheriff’s office said.
The slain dog, a Great Pyrenees, also was shot multiple times – it appeared the dog may have attacked the man in an attempt to protect the rest of the family.
